Multiple Allergy Pills

hey, i have been on allegra for the last while, and now that spring is here, i feel like i need some more ammunition against allergens. my doctor suggested i try singulair again, although i have been on it before and noticed little difference (wrong season for it to be effective maybe?) i am wondering if i should add something like zyrtec, which also seems to work for me at certain times? the thing is, different times of year are different and i haven't ever bothered to keep track of what works when.

would it be BAD to be on allegra, zyrtec AND singluair?

I take Benadryl on occasion when I think I have allergies... I have no idea if I do. What do they feel like?? I've been tested about 6 years ago and was only allergic to dust. Lately, I feel really tight in my chest and kinda stuffy, but still with a running nose. My eyes usually aren't very dry or itchy though.... matter of fact, I get little itching at all with any of it. Do you think these are allergies? Like seasonal?

Laura,
Have you ever tried Flonase? My MIL swears by this and it really helps my hubby too (when he decides to take it!)

sonia, you got a username! yay!

yes i do use flonase. i forgot to add that to the list in the origianl post. it does help but i am bad about remembering it the second time of the day usually, so it is probably not really working on me.

amy, thanks for all the great information. that helps a lot.

i think what i am going to do for now is stay on the flonase and allegra, and just add the singulair. then if i am still having trouble i may ask my doctor if i can up my allegra dose.

Hey-

Every fall I get bad season allergies. I've tried Claritin and it does NOTHING! I don't know why it doesn't work for me. So now I just try to ride the storm. Maybe that's not good either. Will it hurt you if you just live with your allergies?

Amy,

I am confused.....tell me the difference between Singulair and Claritin?

I have been taking Singulair and Nasonex for 2 months now. At first it was WONDERFUL but now I seen to be wheezing and coughing again.

Should I try Claritin instead of Singulair??

Thank you for the lesson. I am going to ask my doctor for a script for nasacort aq because a few weeks ago I saw some fresh blood from my sinuses. I stopped taking flonase and it went away. I think taking a nasal steroid is helpful. Had no idea there was alcohol in it. You know your Stuff

I'm supposed to take Zyrtec, but I rarely take it because I don't like to be on a pill for every malady that I have. I rarely take it.

just wanted to add something my doctor said. antihistimines have the side effect of drying out the lungs of cfers. this can be counterproductive to us. so for those who feel on the edge about taking an allergy pill, this might be a good reason not to.
