multiple therapies at a time

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone here has done multiple forms of therapy at the same time. I went to the doc this past week and one of the nurses I think was just doing a little survey type thing where she asked me what form of chest clearance I use. I told her I use the vest and I told her my times and settings for it. She asked if I used the Flutter in between settings and seemed suprised that I told her that I never really use my Flutter. I got it for free years ago through the company that makes ADEKS and found that the vest worked much better so I stuck it in a storage bin and forgot about it. When I got home I tried what she suggested. I did the first setting of my vest like normal, then instead of going right to the next setting, I did the Flutter about 5-10 times (not a whole 15 min treatment of it), then the next setting, then the Flutter again, then my last setting, then the Flutter. I gotta say, it worked pretty well. Is there anything else any of you guys do in addition to just one form of therapy (the vest in particular)?

I am currently doing the vest, followed by the Quake. I just started yesterday, but I'm taking notes about it. Basically I'm treating my body like my very own analysis project (scientific mind that I am!)

The benefit of combining treatments, from what I understand of the math and physics of it, is that they each target different lung functions. The pulse and vibration of the vest offers one benefit, and the flutter offers another since it is a PEP therapy.

Sorry to be so vague, I'm doing the vest treatment at the moment. I'll be more coherent about it in the days to come.

I admire your willingness to try new things to keep yourself in the best of health.
Best wishes,
Lauren

I keep my flutter at work and do it in the event I am feeling crummy since it is portable and quiet. I also use my acapella sometimes in teh shower since i learned that on here and it works well.

I used to keep the acapella or the pep in different locations around the house and do whatever one was closer becuase I figure since they all have different methods of achieving approximately the same results if you combined them all it woudl be better since each one has to be a bit better at a different thing right?

Not a bad idea.... I never tried using the flutter right after, or in-between my vest treatments, but i think i am going to try that today. I usually use the flutter at times when i am just sitting watching tv at night, or if i feel i have something in there that just wont budge, But im gonna give it a try right after i am done my vest ( doing the vest now) and see whats what. Thanks for posting this !!

I use the flutter everyday with the vest, not in between. In other words, I do my nebs with the vest, and then when my nebs are done, I do the vest again for about 5 minutes and use my flutter while the vest is going. It's a lot of vibration all at once, and it works great. I've been using the flutter for about 15 years now, and I've always liked it -- it works for me.

If I'm feeling kinda cruddy, I do my vest twice a day, and do my flutter in the shower- the steam from the shower seems to help .
