Does anyone know what a spider bite looks like?

My oldest daughter was bite by a brown recluse (sp?) when she was around 8 years old. We took her to the doctor fast enough that we were able to control the spread of infection and poison.

She called me today and said she was bit again. I couldn't believe someone could be bit by a spider twice in their life, and on the same leg!

WARNING: I AM GOING TO POST A PIC OF HER LEG. IT'S NOT REAL BAD, BUT IT IS NOT PRETTY AND IT IS ON HER UPPER THIGH.

Her father is not taking her to the doc. He says it looks like a ant bite. This does not look like any ant bite I have ever had!! What do you all think? Should I talk to her father and make him take her in? Remember they are 2000 miles away right now, and I feel quite helpless!!

Is she showing symptoms of being allergic? If she's not showing any signs of a reaction, the I might wait it out. I dunno though - I'm not sure what kind of bite it looks like.

What do you mean by "symptoms of being allergic"? You mean like difficulty breathing and such? If so, no.....no symptoms other than she was bit last night and by this morning it was full of puss and had a large red ring around it.

They suck, becareful. I got one that has been healing for atleast two or three weeks now. Watch it for a day or two, if she shows no symptoms drain it and use some antiseptic. It could very well be an ant bite.

I'm probaby the wrong person to ask this question....I'm always the type that has the 'better safe than sorry' motto. I would probably take my daughter in just for my peace of mind.
Let us know how it goes.

I would have to agree Lynda and say "better be safe than sorry" and take her to your family doctor or at least put a call into him/her to explain what happened and what it looks like (red ring, puss (which is usually a sign of infection), fever at the site (feels hot)) and see what the doctor says. Good luck, keep us updated.

I am going to call Lauren in the morning and ask her how the bite looks.

I told her to mark were the red is and if it starts moving out of the lines to tell her dad to take her to the doc.

You can get a pouch of loose tobacco and some cheese cloth (I bet a coffee filter would work) and make a tobacco pack to put on it. The tobacco will suck out the toxins. I have not had to do this for myself, but I have seen it work numerous times.
