My first hospitalization in 10 yrs

Great suggestions so far.

Fingernail clippers (I had a major nail injury once and the gift shop doesn't carry clippers!)

Razor, my hairy legs get so pokey they wake me up

Ear plugs

Tylenol PM (probably a no no, but I NEED sleep!)

Books, knitting, letters to write

Laptop (also great for DVD's or CD's)

all of the toiletries mentioned already...always a must (a towel is a great idea, can't believe I never thought of that). Even TP is a good idea, hospitals have the cheap stuff...you all know we've experienced this!

Cell phone (texting is a must), plus it's an alarm clock

That's all I can think of. I hope you do get to relax. It is kind of nice to have all of your food delivered, room cleaned, meds hooked up, etc. I wear myself out on home IV's, it's kind of nice to be taken care of. But of course I miss home like crazy. Nothing replaces my dog & husband!

Good luck & feel better!
