I'm so sorry Liz, I hate hearing when this happens, I have dealt with 'massive' hemoptysis since Nov. '02 when like Chris it was massive, on a ventilator, embolized twice in a week, it actually then turned into 6 embolizations in 5 weeks!!!! I did lose about 20% lung function but was able to recover enough to keep living a great life, I then had reocurring bouts of hemoptysis the next year, would go in have an embolization etc... then it got better for a little while and then last Aug.'06 it hit again terrible, like Chris, on a vent in ICU for a week, two embolizations and then in ICU another week off the vent, it has happened twice since then as well, we even did a lobectomy in Feb. hoping it would help, don't know if it has since I bled again in June.
Just letting you know that someone has been there too, 15 embolizations, 5 intubations. If you need any help or questions let me know. Tell Chris that I know it's painfull but he will make it through!!!! I will keep y'all in my thoughts and prayers.
