NAC from gnc???

Ok so I know that the best kind to buy is the fizzy kind from bioadvan. However I can't afford that right now, specially with all my other med co-pays and supplements.

So I picked up some 600mg tablets from GNC. I was going to take 2 a day.

Anyone tried them? Does it seem to work as good as the other? Any other thoughts? How quickly did you notice a difference?

I don't know that I would buy it from somewhere like GNC- maybe someone else is familiar with it. NAC doesn't react well with air, so you might be buying something that is no longer what it says it is on the bottle.

You can get a prescription for mucomyst and drink it (yeah, but I hear that if you mix it with something else like juice you can get used to it). I'm thinking about asking my dr. to do this for me instead of the fizzy NAC, because of the price of the fizzy NAC going up so much. I figure that seeing that mucomyst comes in a relatively inexpensive generic, and I only have to pay my generic prescription copay, it will be worth a try. I'm not sure about the dosing- I can look it up later and let you know if you are interested. It might be a cheaper and more reliable way of trying it! I do get good results (less tired, etc.) from my fizzy NAC.

A copay on an Rx for acetylcysteine 20% will definitely be cheaper than fizzy NAC. And I wouldn't be buying it from GNC. My doctors said you can't rely on the strength and viability of the fizzy stuff from any place other than Bioadvantex. I drink acetylcysteine 20%, 4.5ml 3x per day. I feel my airways relax and open within 30 minutes. It works great for me. Get an Rx for the liquid, it's the cheapest way to go if you have insurance. And definitely get the PharmaNAC if you go the fizzy route.

So mucomyst and fizzy NAC are the same thing?? Hubby is military so we only have to pay a small copay if we can't get it on base.
