nasal /head colds and loss in fev1

whenever i get a nasal cold which seems to be more often at this time of year it always effects my chest and i produce loads of mucus,iam sure this has got to have a effect on my fev1 as more mucus equals more chance of infection ,
just want to hear of others experiences and whether other people since catching a head cold have =more mucus in the chest=lowering of fev1

It's not uncommon for a head cold to turn into a chest cold for me. The lower my baseline FEV1 gets, the more effect a head cold seems to have on my FEV1 (aka it's more likely to spiral into something serious over a couple weeks)
