I have had many of the same symptoms as Diane in my past when getting sick but never had cepacia. I have had Aspergillosis fungus along with the usual PA. When I had the fungus problems, I did cough up more blood. That's one of the signs you may have a fungus ball somewhere. They aren't always a problem but can be. I was given Prednisone and Sporonox to get rid of it. It did show up in cultures for a while but showed up again after several months. I haven't taken anything for it this time as it seems to not be bothering me much.
I know the waiting is hard. Earlier this year I was told I was resistant to every antibiotic but Colistin and for transplant I needed to sensitive to 2 antibiotics. The doctor was very concerned for my health and told me I needed to be EXTRA careful to stay away from sick people and stay on top of my treatments since I was already taking the only antibiotic that would do any good for me. We had to wait and hope that the PA would become sensitive to something else again over time. Luckily, Levaquin is now an option but I'm hoping I don't need to use it until transplant so I don't get resistant to it again. So all I can do...and you, is to do the best we can at taking our current treatments while we wait for our outcomes. I hope you find out soon and feel better soon!
