Hey all,
So I've been on IV meds for a couple weeks now. I was tolerating them just fine until I ended up getting pretty backed up, GI wise (I posted about it). I called the cf doc per everybody's suggestion and got some miralax. It has only helped slightly, I think I need to give it a couple more days (today is my second day of it). I started experiencing some nausea last week, when I called the cf docs for the miralax, I mentioned this in hopes to get some zofran or reglan (doc ordered it for me in the hospital but I didn't use either of them-didn't need to then). I was told that the nausea I was experiencing was probably more from being backed up than the IV meds and to wait and see how I felt after a couple doses of the miralax. They also told me that if I still wanted a script for zofran or reglan, I had to call the infectious disease doctor dealing with my case instead of my cf doc-he would rather her know about my nausea and deal with it. I called her today and was told she was not in the office but would be there later. The nurse (at least I think it was a nurse) said she would try to contact her and call me back to let me know when she called in a prescription. 5:00pm came and went with no call back. No prescription.
My nausea is worse than ever now. I haven't eaten anything all day because of how sick I feel and now it's the weekend. There is no way I'll be getting a prescription for my nausea for at least the next three days. Do any of you have any suggestions on how to deal with this? Should I stop taking the miralax in case that's what's causing it (though I think it's the IVs)? Should I stop the IVs for the weekend so I can maybe get some food down? I can't not eat all weekend, but I want nothing to do with any kind of food at all. I've been drinking a lot, especially to keep my sugars up since I'm not actually eating anything. I have a halloween party to go to tomorrow, too, and I feel miserable.
Blech. Thanks for any input.
