I think hand washing is most important. I have heard that working out too much can weaken your immune system. A chiropractor friend told me that he had a patient who ran marathons and got sick really bad one time. He over did it. That is what my chiro friend thought.

Everything in moderation especially if you are fighting off something.

Risa,

i do think my husband got sick cause he's been overdoing it with exercize. It made him run down and more susceptible to getting sick.. Arg. Amy, the doc did diagnose the pneumonia, she didn't do a chest x-ray or sputum culture, just by his symptoms and lung sounds. This is his 2nd rouund of antibiotics , which disturbs me. Hopefully this will work, and of course if it really is viral the antibiotics would not work but he still needs to take it easy. It does sound like pneumonia to me , fortunately or unfortuantely for my family I was a nurse but I'm not practicing these past 3 years. However, when it's your own loved one , sometimes your judgement(at least mine) is screwy.

Thanks for your support!

I don't have CF, but years ago I went to the doctor 'cuz I was really tired, fever, headache, little cough.... The nurse had them do an Xray, but the doctor pretty much said it was "pharyngitis" and sent me home with some antibiotics. Two weeks later, not getting better, feeling miserable and dragging myself to work thinking I was a hypochondriac, I get a call from the clinic -- ummm, the radiologist just sent us a report saying you have pneumonia, you need to get a script for some stronger drugs. I sorta snapped -- gee, is that why I was coughing up blood and just about choking on phlegm. I think it took well over a month to get all that stuff out of my lungs and I was really tired.
