I don't know how meds for small children work, but I hope they're not trying to get her to swallow Cipro pills? They're HUGE. And they're not gel caps, which makes them rough and harder to swallow.

I'm hoping some of these other people have it right, and it's some form of liquid. In which case, it's not impossible to get her to take it (as it might be with a GIANT Cipro pill), just difficult. I'd go with the two best suggestions here... have the pharmacy flavor the stuff, or bribe her. My mom used to bribe me to go get my flu shots. I got a new toy every year. It worked. *shrug*

My son is also 2. He is normally very good with his meds and seems to like them, but he doesn't like cipro. I use a syringe and give him an extra empty one to hold and play with. It seems to distract him long enough for me to get the med in.

Amber, I just got a good chuckle out of your post. The only way Emily will consent to having a syringe in her mouth is if she has one or two to hold, too. She is obsessessed with them! She takes them out of the drawer where we keep them and sits on the floor putting htem together and taking them apart! She gives her babies and animals their "med i din." So, Madimom, try letting her play with a syringe..you never know!

The reward system seems to work well for this grainy med!! My daughter was on cipro last winter. She took it easily enough, but we always had to have the chocolate milk close by for her to wash it down! We counted down dose by dose! Oh also we kept it in the fridge... the pharmasist said it would taste better that way. It also smelt alot better cold! Good Luck! Make it fun!
