new bacteria

So, I got a new culture two weeks ago and finally got my results back today. I still have PA and a staph (probably MRSA, but it was so slow growing that they couldn't tell). Those two bugs I always have, but now I have 3 new bacteria. Two kinds of Chryseobacterium and Mesophilic bacteria.

Anyway, my doctor's response was that we are just going to wait and see what happens, since I'm not "sick," even though I've been coughing more and increased sputum for the last 5 weeks. What does he want to do wait until I'm hospitalized? I'm trying to prevent that!!

Also, when I mentioned starting AZLI for my PA, which we had talked about previously, he said that if we did that I might just replace my PA with the other bacteria. What!? Why not just treat everything and keep me from sliding backwards? This really concerns me. Also, any help with understanding my new bacterium would be appreciated. Thanks!

I cultured a MAC bacteria in jan 09. My doctor actually took me OFF zithro (which is the stand of meds that help treat it) and she said lets wait and see. I never cultured it again, BUT I was sick alot last year and she never treated it.

I was annoyed, but then I found out it takes 15-18 months of IV treatment.

I haven't culture it since jan 09...so I am gratefullywe chose not to treat.

Do not know how scientific this is, or what but just throwing out ideas...

I do believe that when you treat one bug with abx, it just allows the other one or ones to grow in that what is now bug free space... they are all competing for space in there.

Maybe they think the PA is the most dominant and in a way, inhibiting the growth of the new bacterias... so they dont want to treat it??

I really dont know, it sounds a little off, you should call and have them explain further IMO.
