i know everyones insurance is different but im not very educated on how i can get a new nebulizer, vest etc. i would like to get a pari trek like amy because my new job is going to cause me to be on the road alot. the nurse at my cf center says insurance doesnt usually cover these? also i have an acient vest that i HATE. but it has barely been used, and i dont know if i would like newer version or not. i need to look into it since i am starting to do my stuff mroe often and realize how important comfort and being able to travel is. hope this made sense.

You usually need a prescription to get a nebulizer/compressor system, unless you'd rather pay out of pocket. I bought a PARI Trek for the exact reason you specified (I was traveling a lot for work at the time) and I liked how small and convenient it was.

Ebay also has the whole setup of the PARI Trek. Here's a link:

I'm assuming the Vest you have is the Hillrom version. It's VERY clunky. There are different vests available now.

Here's a link to the page that has a prescription/sizing form for the Respirtech inCourage vest.

Here are the instructions for how to order the Electromed Smart Vest:

All the best to you as you become more compliant and diligent with your treatments. You'll be VERY glad that you're taking a proactive approach to your health. It's SO worth it!

be careful about the pari trek.... it will underdose TOBI or colistin SIGNIFICANTLY (and therefore induce resistance which is a HUGE problem) as well as under dose pulmozyme.

pulmozyme is so expensive .... i don't see the benefit of spending the time to do the med and not getting a benefit.

I paid out of pocket for my Pari Trek but I am planning on calling my insurance to see if they will reimburse me. I wanted it and I have the "luxury" of being able to buy now and hope later.

Call your insurance company and find out if they will cover the nebs and vest. Then talk to your DRs office. You will need an RX though to get them.

Amy (NoExcuses) - I am glad you said about the TOBI and Pari. I was not aware of that. I don't plan on using my Pari everyday, but mainly for convience purposes. My regular compressor is still sitting next to my computer and I will use that daily but I needed something more compact and easier to travel with
