New drug may cure genetic disorders

I never said it wasn't good.

"Only" refers to a few amount. The number of CF patients. 5-10% is a small amount. That's all I was saying.

The title of your thread "new drug may cure genetic disorders" is a bit misleading...and so is the article if you don't read it fully.

And you can see how it's misleading by the responses to the other thread on this exact same article that was posted a week ago.

WAAAAHOOOOOO, I have been waiting for so long for this to come out and its only a few years away, whoopi, Im excited right now, CFF.org site needs to update their drug pipeline, cause its still saying PTC124 is in phase 2.

Wow 2009, man I have to wait that long to get it. It seesms like forever but I know that it will be hear in a blink of an eye.

Wow, for those of you that are curious as to why Im so excited, is because I qualify for this drug, I have two non sense mutations that are the same G542X.

Ive printed this off and next time I see my doc, Im sharing the news with him. He also knows how bad want to take this drug too!

One more question, Is this supposed to help those of us already here, or unborn children? I read the one link and my understanding of it was it is not directed to us who are already here with cf. Anyone know? Have i missed something?

I didn't suggest you did.

3000 people in the states alone could be helped. That's not small. That's how many people died in the twin towers...were they insignificant?

What's your point?, I didn't write the article. I just found it and shared it.

I am thrilled to hear that this drug may help someone on our site.

Just remember that many drugs don't make it past Phase III trials. I hope that this one does, but there are countless drugs that non-favorable side effect profiles.

There have been many CF promises made to us, most of which never came to fruition.

But I hope this drug will make it of course

I have G542x and after many years of testing, if a tx patient can take it, i would think about it. I no longer get excited about new drugs. I use to be the cheerleader type. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
