yup uli is right.

and the bird flu is not spreading around the US but I do know some countries in asia are experiencing a small # of human infections.

Yes there is a strain of the flu the shot is not covering we have had a handfull of positives on people that have had the shot here at the Dr's office i work at... so lots of hand washing.. im kinda keeping ashton away from any extra places he dosent need to be... We believe this year is going to be worse than previous because it hasent gooten cold enough at least here in indiana...

I am not sure about an epidemic, but I will say myself and Kurt are the only people in our immediate families and close friends that have NOT had some sort of flu type infection the past few months. Starting around Thanksgiving til the middle of January. For everyone that got it the thing tended to linger for about 3 weeks. The first week was the worst and the last two were just lingering remnants.

Being that I was exposed my docs gave me tamiflu - I will also add that I think this virus was one that WAS included in the flu shot because Kurt and I were the only ones in our group of people that got the flu shot this past year - and thus the only ones to NOT get sick.

A couple years ago the media started talking about a possible bird flu pandemic. Comparing it to the major influenze out break in 1918. Our doctor has indicated that currently the bird flu has not made a cross over to being spread from human to human contact. The cases are primarily people who are in close contact with bird. Meanwhile city and county goverment health agencies are setting "what if plans into place" -- what to do when the bird flu pandemic hits, talk about stockpiling tamiflu...
