I know its not technically a new antibiotic, but Aztreonam
Lysinate, does treat PA, and it will hopefully soon be available in
inhalation form. Right now it is available as an IV treatment. The
results from clinical trials of inhaled Aztreonam have been
promising.<br>

I've been involved in the study for inhaled aztreonam and it works wonders! There is I believe one more phase left to finish and then it should be available. When I was on aztreonam my pft's went up and when I was on tobi the went down a little, nothing drastic though. But I like this new drug and highly recomend it when it is available.

Well it's not a new antibiotic. It's a new delivery system.

My point was that we should be ware of resistance because no new antibiotics are in the pipeline.

If you're resistant to Aztreonam in IV, you're more than likely resistant to it in inhalation form. Just like with Tobra and TOBI.

So my point is still valid - we need to keep a close eye on growin resistance because new antibiotics will not be coming out on the market to treat PA.
