new treatment

well this was posted almost a year ago on this board and it's funny that it's finally getting around to everyone. i did my research when i heard about it last year and pushed my clinic to get it for everyone. they got it set up in august finally but i had been hounding them since june and knew about it since i think april or march of last year. our lovely australian mates from down under discovered this one for us!!!! i think it hasnt been pushed b/c of the drug companies. it is shown to be as good as pulmozyme or better. haha genetech is going to be so upset. i was the first to get it at my clinic and have been pushing it since. they're only doing 5% and havent started 7%. i don't know when they will do that but it is being prescribed like crazy here in dallas. it's been around for a couple of years but finally made it out to the public.

I tried Pulmozyme years ago & it made me cough up blood.
In everyone's opinion, would the hypertonic basically have the same side effects as Pulmozyme?? And has anyone had hemoptysis as a side effect of hypertonic saline yet?

My 4 yr old daughter started it last week. She's on the 3%. Before starting it she never coughed after therapy but now she is coughing up a lot. She doesn't complain about it at all.

I have been on hypertonic for about a month and half and I see mr. doc. next week, so Ill see if it has improved my pfts or not, all it does to me is make me cough, and my cough is like a loose cough as if I can cough something up, but cant, and its like that pretty much all day long, it doesnt bother me, cause I think that with the loose cough it is moving the mucus around, I could be wrong but that is what I think. The only time I cough is during treatment and once in awhile during the day, Ill cough on my own and see if maybe I cant move anything out, never can tho.
