New vest denied by insurance...what do I do??

Hi everyone,
So I got a call from Hill-Rom yesterday saying that my insurance denied my new vest (yes the one I am using, they took my old one back).

So I asked what I can do about it and basically I can fight that claim. She said to purchase the vest is $6,000. Um, I really don't want to do that.

So my old vest was denied because it was in working order. HOWEVER, when I got my new vest I noticed how much 'stronger' it was, my old vest was not accurate (the settings) and I even told my doctor "I wonder how long I was not getting the treatment I THOUGHT I was getting."
So what do I do now, I didn't even get the letter yet but thought I'd post.

Will gettting a letter from my doc help to show that the old vest was worn out? I need help with this.

Thanks in advance,
Kelli

I dont understand why Hill Rom isnt doing the fighting for you. They are good at proving why/how the change was needed etc.

I would contact them & your doctor to have the company appeal it. Had you known it wouldnt have been covered.....I doubt you would have gotten the new one!

Kelli,

KEEP FIGHTING!! Yes, get a letter from your doctor. Contact the social worker and see what she can do. Get back on the horn to Hill-Rom and get all the correspondance they had with the insurance, find out why they are willing to give up fighting. They fought our insurance for about 5 months and finally got everything covered, and then after 3 months, my insurance denied again saying they only approved for 90 days. Hill-Rom fought again, and now its taken care of.

Good luck!!!!
