Hi Risa!!!
I miss you.... I hope you are doing well. I only lurk and occasionally post, but I am always glad to see when you have posted
And Amy-
I hope I did not come across as, "Everyone quit your nexium....." I simply think it is important to point out that taking a pill to suppress one function does not exactly create the best result. Their are many ways to make the whole body less acidic and none of them include those class of drugs that are known to cause liver damage, calcium mal-absorption, demineralization of bones....
And, if I am a parent reading this and I think, "oh my gosh....could I get my kid healthier without these strong drugs?" by all means, I am for that.
Like I have said before, I really don't post that much because many of the older cfers are stuck in the land of western pharma-miracle drugs...not ever giving credence to anything if it did not come from the cf center.
By the way...the cf centers are making the shift....it will be several years..but this year at the national cf conference, they finally admitted that the nutritional info given to cfers was dead wrong. High calorie low nutrional foods only contribute to deterioration.....that was stated at the conference this year. They are now seeing the importance in the high omega 3 diet.....a anti-inflammatory diet. It's all a changing...and pretty soon.....the younger cfers wil benefit...and older...if their minds can let go of the old ways.
Amy,
I don't take it personally......I know you have great intentions...and you are coming around ha, ha. I don't think it is irresponsible of me to call attention to something that has some problems...I mean at the very most...I am saying fire when there is smoke.
I have not been on ppi ever...in four years. Since I started probiotics and anti-inflammatory diet, I don't have acid reflux....and I NEVER have stomach aches...ever.
