Night Sweats?

NoExcuses

New member
Hey guys,

I woke up twice last night drenched in sweat.

It's happened to me before when I get cold. Weird, I know.

But I've been feeling a little more tired the past few days, so I dunno if it's an indication of something? Oh and I'm not running a fever.

What's everyone else's experience been with night sweats?

I wish I knew why this happened also. My daughter sweats profusely when she sleeps, her pillow is drenched every morning. Weird that it's only her head that sweats like that, her body never feels sweaty.

I'm curious to see if others experience this and if there's a reason.

I normally get night sweats if my blood sugar is high. When I go to sleep I check my sugar and if it is above 140 I notice that I sweat at night. If it is lower I do not have a problem. I do not take insulin to lower my sugar at night unless it is above 200 because I tend to bottom out in my sleep. When my blood sugar has been high I would always get cold sweats - just one of the symtoms for me.

Other than that I have had night sweats due to IV meds - I get them EVERY time I am on IVs for the entire length of treatment.
Also if I am sick and have been running fevers and I have my fever break in the night. I do not run fevers often, so that is rare but it does happen.

Edited to add: You may want to ask about checking yoru Hemoglobin A1C the next time you get bloodwork done. I just re read your post and saw you mentioned you had been tired lately. I was extremely tired before I was diagnosed witH CFRD. Not trying to scare you, but just a thought that your blood sugar may be running high.

Mark gets them too sometimes and it's either when his blood sugar is too low or it's a precursor to getting sick... usually about 2 weeks ahead of time. He goes in for a sputum sample but nothing is detected... 1-2 weeks later something is detected in the sample. His body knows long before any lab tech or machine can detect anything.....

i just had one of those blood sugar things done where i had to drink a bunch of nasty orange stuff and it turned out fine. should i get it checked again? this was probably about 8 weeks ago.

that's funny that you mention night sweats and IV's, Lindsey. I have only been on IV's a few times but every time I've been on I get the same thing as you. I thought it was cuz I was sick, but maybe it's the IV's.

Thank you all for your feedback. I really appreciate it.

It's been super hot here in LA (110 degrees) and I work outside a lot, so the heat may have just done me in.

Please keep your ideas coming..... and thank you all again!

I am sure your sugars are probaably fie if you just had them checked. I wouldn't imagine you would see a big change that quickly, but who knows.

Also is it possible you have been really active in your sleep i.e rolling around alot tossing turning, having a nightmare or anything. I sometimes sweat a bit if I am having a bad dream. I can always tell cause when I wake up I am soaked and I am in a cocoon of covers from where I have rolled around so much.

As for sweating on IVs - I contribute it to my body wanting to get the excess out of my system. They normally have me on at least 2 IV meds if not more when I go in, it is so frustrating too. I have to change pjs every night - some nights I have even had them come in and change my sheets cause I have soaked them from sweating. Then like clockwork the day I am off IVs they stop.

One possible theory to night sweats would be the relationship between the beginning of a lung infection and the body trying to fight it off on it's own. I was told by a good source that infections cannot handle above the normal body temperature, so the body gets hotter to combat it.
Another theory would be related to fatigue. I was having night sweats last year, and I also was dealing with work stress, house cleaning on the weekends, as well as trying to get my body back in shape after dealing with a lot of health problems, such as frequent colds.
However, most night sweats for me were often during the spring or fall, when the weather was changing.

my son recently experienced night sweats. It was explained to
me by his docs that everyone's oxygen stats fall during sleep, when
they fall to low your body has to work extra which in turn produces
these night sweats. my son's oxygen stats had been dropping
into the 80's at night because of pneumonia they realized he had.
he was admitted for iv meds and given oxygen during the
night. In a few days his pft's went from 27 to 42, one week
later they were 49. He has been hovering at about 37 for the
last 9 mines.

i have some questions about glutathione, lecithin, taurine, and
nac.

is anyone taking these, if so when and how much? My son is
12, he has always had a problem with gaining and maintaining his
weight. I have gone round and round with docs and dieticians.
What they have been telling us to do is not working, we have
tried their suggestions over and over again with the same results,
loss of weight instead of gaining. i have asked them several
years ago about glutathione and was told its worthless.
the more and more i look into it i don't see how that is
possible. please let me know what others have experienced.
They want to start my son on hormone therapy.
