I know that this is a pretty unusual problem for a CFer, but I have a very non-productive cough. I would welcome any suggestions on how to cough it up! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

The only thing I can suggest is to drink more water.
I used to have the same problem. I would cough and feel congested but I had to cough SOOO hard to get anything up. It felt superglued to my lungs. I talked to the doc about it and he said that I needed to drink more water and make sure that I stay hydrated. Especially if you are taking Saline. The Saline works best if you are well hydrated.
I have been doing my best to drink more water the past few months and cut out sodas completely. Since I did that I have been able to cough stuff up more easily. I also notice that if I do NOT make a point to drink enough water that my cough tends to get drier and stuff is hard to get up again.

I find doing the 7% Hypertonic Saline twice a day really helps to bring up mucus that I would otherwise not be able to. I do the treatment while using the Vest. The combination of doing them together has been more effective than if I did the HTS first then the Vest. I tried both ways and doing them together is more productive for me.

Are you on Pulmozyme? If not, it would probably help -- it makes the mucus thinner and easier to get up.
My daughter is on both pulmozyme and 7% saline and has the vest. She does both treatments (separately) with the vest going at the same time and is able to get junk up everyday.
In the meantime the over the counter medicine Mucinex (or generic name guaifenisin) along with extra water as others have recommended might help.
