NOT CF related... Looking for help writing a resume.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows any books or websites that I can go to to find out how to write a resume? I have to submit for my job at work, but also I need to hand in a few for school.

I am clueless how to do this, I am looking for professional format ....

I actually have a great format that was given to me by one of my professors. He is a very smart man so I trust him implicitly with these kinds of things. If you private message me (my login name is summer732) I can forward you my resume through e-mail and then the format will be there and alls you will have to do is change my information and put in yours. Let me know if this will help.

Thank you guys so very much I really am grateful. My email is Jennifers_hope@yahoo.com.. I would love any more information you have. Allie that was perfect. I printed it to use as a guide. I don't have experience as an RN but I have loads as a tech.. so we will see...

I am so stressed with this job searching thing.. I was told by my boss today that 5 ppl are trying to get the same positiion as me. Freaker... three of them are already working there in the ER like I am the other two are not, so they are less likely to be hired. My boss is only bringing on 1 of us. I Have the most experiece there. but I also have a very notable reputation of being in the hospital every three months...My boss, as a friend doesn't feel I should work in the ER, she wants me in a clean floor.. so I am feeling slightly stressed..... I hate change.. I have always resisted it with a furry like I don't see in me any other time....There goal is to place all graduating students within the same hospital that we work in. I know I would get a job somewhere in the hospital.. but med surg is not an option for me.. to many in patient hospital aquired infections for me...


Anyway, I have to get this resume done asap, and get it in to my boss, and also for school. I probably won't know about a job till I am close to graduating, In a way I wish I knew now because if I don't get the job it will give me time to get over the devastation so it won't interfere with my graduation happiness..

I think I am going to invest the money and have one drawn up for me...but I know they can be real expensive..

Ha.. I have to update....

I went ahead, with my fathers blessing and credit card and hired a "professional" resume writer. I of course, being the exuberent type of person I am.. went and bought the whole package.. Cover letter, Resume, and "rights" to copy to a disk package.... The total package was $179.00.

I researched this company.. the website looks amazing, top of the line, guarentees all over the place..blah blah blah....

Anyway, the resume was promised to me by yesterday at 3 pm.. Well It came as promised, all I can say is,

Format.. inconsistant all the way through.. He started with bullets, ran out of room so he stopped using them.. I kid you not the resume looks like a personal want ad.... IT was to wordy, someone would look at it and be overwhelmed with all the words.. and no one would read.. SORT OF LIKE THIS POST. HA.. He LIED ALL over my resume and said I was an expert in all these areas that I really had no experience in. ( keep in mind he knows I am giving this to my boss who has been my boss for 5 of the 6 years I have been there.. He said I was an expert in. The list he said about me was just not true.... Not only does this tick me off, since I really do have a lot of accomplishments to be proud of that he didn't even mention, like THREE honor societys, Class Rep and a few other things.

I stink at spelling, but he has spelling errors all over the place. It was aweful..He tried to retype it as per my request, but he only changed one of the 13 things I asked him to change.. Now he is not returning my calls or emails.. I tried to be so kind to him and help him to see because it was so clear he was unfamiliar with medical terminlogy and in the resume he used words inappropiatly.

I called the credit card company and put in a dispute of payment.. so he doesn't get paid

BUT I got a lot of help on my Resume, many of the nurses I work with emailed me there resume, and after 10 hours of me working on it today, I am proud to say I have a resume and cover letter that represents me accuratly, makes me feel good, and isn't overwhelmingly wordy.. I am going to run this by my friend who can do a final advisement.. But overall I feel really good about it....

MORAL OF THE STORY.... DONT' GET SCAMMED BY INTERNET "PROFESSIONALS"....
