Odd question

Hello!

Ok, so I'm just getting through the weekend and will likely be admitted for this dang "cold" that has moved into my lungs and set up shop.

My question is kinda an odd one:

Can we give our selves low-grade fevers from coughing? I ask because I've been working super hard on doing huff coughing and pounding on myself whenever I'm just laying around. I notice when I do huffing, etc. over a period of time, I get super super warm. My face gets flushed and my body just feels hot. I'm coughing tons of stuff out and don't want to stop, so I huff and puff until I'm exhausted.

I then usually feel feverish. The only way my temp seems to come down is when I take a tylenol and rest without huffing or doing much of anything. I took my temp. last night after huffing and feeling "flushed" and it was 100. This is about 3 degrees higher than usual for me. Not a full fever, but still higher than usual. After I took a tylenol and layed around, I felt fine and not hot or flushed, but it took over an hour.

I woke today and do not have a fever. So, I wonder if the huffing and pushing myself and my body had anything to do with the rise in body temp?

Has anyone else had this happen? Does it make sense that we can raise our body's temp with just huffing and excessive coughing, etc?

Thanks!

YES. I get low grade fevers just about every weekend. It is usually at times when my sleep schedule is messed up, or my neb/vest schedule is messed up leaving me tight and coughing. I have been getting fevers from being run down/coughing more since I was little.

I'm not sure about a "fever", but coughing vigorously is exercise. I assume your body temp increases with exercise, but I'm not certain.

My guess: Coughing up some of the crud that's feeding on you frees up enough energy to let your body raise your temp to help fight it off. I ran fevers a LOT while getting healthier and still do fairly frequently. The healthier I have gotten, the more energy I have had to have a fever and that has helped then get me healthier...etc..

I hope that makes some sense.
