Off-topic, worried about safety of Jewish brothers and sisters

On the news I heard of an attack here in the states on 6 women at a synagogue by a troubled man, because of Lebanon. Allie is the only Jewish person I "know"--(just know her from the site.) So I'm hoping that Allie and her family are staying safe and being careful. This is a troubling time, and I'm sorry she's being judged because of who she is, and what she stands for. I stand with her, and I pray for a peace--though I know it will not happen soon. Just wanted all you to know how scarey it must be for Allie and her friends, and that we're thinking of them.

Terri, you have no idea how bad I needed this. Things lately have been worrying me, not that I'm not a worrywart already, but from the attacks on synagouges and the Seattle Jewish center, to Mel Gibson's recent comments during his arrest, I had started to wonder if Anti-semistism was back in fashion. It's strange, when you think about the 'what ifs' and you're sure no one outside of your group has any thought or idea on what it's like. I'm sure every minority deals with thier own struggles, and they are hard to explain to people who haven't had it happen. Thank you for this Terri, it meant a lot to have your support.

I really truly hope the last post was a joke and not meant to just be mean. There is enough prayer out there to pray for both and it is not up to us to judge what is more important to someone. I continue to pray for both the Jewish population, the Lebonese people, and now even the iguana. I feel that anything that causes someone hurt deserves to be prayed for.

Amy, I really do think that must have been just sarcastic and sometimes things just come out wrong in writing.

I agree with Sue wholeheartedly. That seemed rather uncalled
for...
Allie, we've spoken about this before, but you are in my thoughts
day in and day out. The world has just gone friggin' nuts,
that's all this shows me...

If I prayed, I'd pray for both the iguana and the Jews. Since I don't, I shall just think and wish well for both (never had an iguana, but I know I'd be sad if my new ferret was all sick).

Allie, you know me, German and all, I love me some Jews. As far as Mel Gibson goes, Jesus freak or not, you can't be too surprised... look at his father. Yikes. Frightening.

Allie, I don't pray, but I am thinking of all the innocents in all this. I can't even begin to understand the feelings on both sides. But what I do know is that the US government, and my own government for that matter, (UK), are perpetuating the whole episode. While Condaleeza Rice is over there trying to broker a cease fire, the US government is sending plane loads full of bombs to Israel, they have been landing in Scotland to re-fuel, but now we wont let them, they are re-fueling in England. One of the planes had been given a civilian call sign, so as not to draw attention to it.

Again I am thinking of you and your brothers and sisters

Geez that was a sweet post re Allie! i personally believe prayer
doesn't change an events outcome, i feel it is a way of expressing
our hopes and desires from within, and does no harm. i
believe that love and acceptance for one another as evidenced by
some real action, can change the course of history. an example of
that "real" action --- making meals for Jennifers friend
John's family at this time, helping Liz with vouchers, just
empathising on here with someone when when they are lonely or
depressed. these actions bond us in the way that make us realise
regardless of colour, religion or financial status etc we all bleed
grief at some time and all desire acceptance for who we are. maybe
that is a bit of guff!, but i was touched by Kaylees Grandmas
post.
ps, one of my slightly off key beliefs-- LOVE is god!! think about
it. wink, Blackchameleon.

Allie, I'm sorry there are so many crazy people. It still amazes me that people hate others for such insignificant reasons. ;-(

I must admit that I was so wrapped up in Rami's (a/k/a IhateCF) situation that it totally slipped my mind about the rest of the worlds reaction. It NEVER crossed my mind & now that it has been brought to my attention I hope/pray that Allie & all her Fellow Jewish Followers remain safe!

Sigh, violence in the name of religion is bad and downright foolish.

Hopefully you encounter no problems Allie-dear.
