So I got the results of my latest cervical biopsy. I am at a stage now where they feel it is best to remove the abnormal areas on my cervix to prevent it from developing into cancer. They have rcommended freezing off the areas with liquid nitrogen. It's considered a minor sergical procedure. I am disappointed. I don't want to deal with this, but I definately don't want cancer!! It won't affect my ability to have kids thank goodness. I will have the procedure sometime in late October (I actually have to reschedule because the soonest they had an opening was Sept. 20th, then I recieved all the information about the procedure in the mail and they say no sex for a month, well I'm getting married on Oct 14th and I am going to consumate my marriage!!!). It sucks that in the middle of all the happiness of planning my wedding that bad stuff still happens.

Speaking of wedding plans, we bought Brian's ring and my wedding band this weekend!!! We spent more than we really wanted to on mine but I fell in love with it and it's platinum, and considering that we're actually getting a good deal. I also ordered my dress! I'm so excited.

I am so sorry you have to go through this at a inopportune time. I have had freezing in that area to remove cysts also and it is not that bad. More scary up until the acual process.

May I ask why you are actually getting it done. I ask because I have apparently a ton of little cysts on my cervix. I went to see a new gyno because mine was out of town and she said that she wouldn't get them removed unless they bleed during sex, like my others did. Is this something I should worry about. My pap was normal?

Jessi, if you ever want to talk about this, feel free to harass me. I had that done when I was... 17 or 18. I had what was called a leep to remove the precancerous tissue on my cervix. Basically they took a sharp and hot tool and burned/cut off 1/3 of what was there. That would not have prevented me from having kids, but I unfortunately had a rare side effect. My cervix kept healing shut, despite them surgically re-opening it and cleaning out my uterus. I then had a hysterectomy. That wasn't my only option, but since I had an abnormal area anyway (I couldn't use tampons, they always hurt because I'm angled weird, and pads always made me feel SO gross that I'd wipe myself raw), and I figured carying kids was unsafe, I had them yank it out.

It is possible that will happen, but it's rather rare. And if it does, there are other options than hysterectomy which will allow you to still have children. My obgyn mentioned one, but I don't remember what it was. Chances are that won't happen to you anyway.

Point is, I've been there. My situation with it escalated to be about as bad as it could, so if you have ANY questions or concerns you want to share, absolutely feel free to come to me. AIM is Emily65Roses, or you can PM me here. <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

Jessi, sounds like your rings are perfect--maybe you could get us a pic of them on here. Sorry about the "little" glitch in your happiness.

Thanks Emily! They talked to me about LEEP too but said that with the size and locations of the abnormal tissue cryo-surgery would be better. It sounds less painful too so that's what I'm going to do. I have no reason to think that I might have crazy side effects at this point.

My ring is being sized right now. I was planning on taking pictures of it to email to my mom, so I can put them on here too!
