My God, they are showing it on tv--cars floating in the river, school bus leaning on a railing, stopped just short of the collapse, tracter trailer burned, cars crushed, piled on top of each other...Cars were bumper to bumper before collapse....Please God, I hope all our members here and there family are safe!!!

First, someone added a complaint to that link that they continued the baseball game...I saw from another report that they continued the game so that people wouldn't interfere with the rescuing by going back home...makes sense.
Second, though they state that the bridge was in good bill of health two or three years ago, they could have missed a few important parts, or during their ongoing repair-work, could have agitated an unforseen structural flaw.
Strange that so many structural catastrophies have occured since I started working at an NDT company.
Though it's a tragedy that anyone has to be victims of such "human error", I hope the rescuers can save as many as possible to keep the death count very low. I'll have to contact my family, I have an aunt and uncle living in that general area...
I certainly hope everyone else here is safe.

I have a childhood friend who lives there. I freaked out. I called my mom and she called his mom. He uses a different route to work. Oh, thank God!! I was able to breath a sigh of relief. He has a brand new baby at home and I was thinking the worst.

So glad he is safe at home with his little family.

I watched it off and on tonight via CNN-- how terrible. Makes me trust our roadways less and less in the big cities.... hummm... I live in a big city. Not good.

Has been on non-stop on Fox News--I have several friends there but do not have numbers. I learned to late about it, my daughter's MIL lives there, and my other daughter's best friend--wonder how they are? 20 people are still missing, cars are sunk under water or under concrete....How horrible...
