Not to be a downer, but Vertex drugs are not a cure. Dr Beall was very specific in saying this. They have improved lung function on average by 10%. While this is wonderful news, it it not a cure. It will be closer to a "cure" for newborns. It should be available to the public next year.

You said they basically have a cure for Cf and it increases your lung function by like 80-90%, which is not true. I was just posting as to not give false hope to other young people or especially the mothers that read this site.

Its not actually 80 90 % it depends on the person really is what i hear as of right now... and its only for the one gene that only 4% of the cf population has.... it doesnt work for the most commen which is the Delta 508 gene
