I had previously been on Levaquin for a lung infection...it wasn't going away so they did a sputum culture and started me on Doxicyclene. This was in June.I was on it for 2 weeks, and finished and felt fine. Then, 1.5-2 weeks later I started feeling congestion come back in my lungs, uncontrolled coughing, etc. This has happened about 4 more times (2 weeks on, 1.5 weeks off and getting sick again) since June. Last time I tried the Doxicyclene for 3 weeks and now here I am 2 weeks later starting it again.

I feel better when I am done with the Doxy-but to me it seems like it isn't getting 100% of the bugs out of there and they start to multiply again-which in turn causes me to get sick again. It is different than a regular cold because it just seems to start back up again in my lungs and not not the usual route it takes when I get a cold (head cold-and then moves into my lungs.

I have an appt with my CF center on Thursday so I am going to have them do a sputum culture to see what I am growing and what will help get rid of it! I have cultured PA only rwice (once each time I was pregnant) and not again since then-usually its just staph.

I'm not sure what they are going to put me on...I am allergic to sulfa and penecillin. He wants to save Cipro and PA meds for when I am actually culturing PA. Any other ideas of what I can do? I have been compliant with my daily meds as well (advair, pulmozyme, etc).
