Oral Antibiotics

Oh yeah....I have also been on VFend (voriconazole) for fungal infections before the Tx and then to prevent fungal infections after the Tx. I was taken off of the VFend and placed on Posaconozole (also to prevent fungal infections) because the VFend was messing with my new liver and the docs didn't like it.

I do not remember specifically what all the antibiotics were for because I have had too many lung infections to remember. I just remember that I have been on the ones that I posted for one thing or another. Oh yeah.....I have also taken Amoxicillin before dental appointments to prevent infection when they are cleaning my teeth and filling cavities.

I think thats it, if i remember anymore i'll let you know, but i think thats it.</end quote></div>

I was only dx with PA (& CF) in 2003, but my lifetime list of abx is about the same as Diane's. Except for #1, 2, 4 & 12. (Chloromycetin, Dicloxicillin, Tegopen, Clindamycin) And add Tetracyclin.

I am now extremely allergic to all Sulfa drugs and had hives w/ Amox. so they don't give me any of that line anymore. I am resistant to all oral abx., but they still will give me 750mg Cipro 2x/day for 2 weeks b4 going to IV's. Makes me sick as all get out and doesn't seem to do a thing, so not sure why they still try that.

I do Azythromycin M, W & F like many others.

Zithromax keeps the pseudo from "balling up" and forming a coat that the other antibiotics can't get thru. It is not intended to kill the pseudo by itself, but to have a synergistic relationship with any other antibiotics and "help" them work. At least that is what I remeber from the original article when they put everyone on it

Oh, and I've been on Ceclor, Augmentin, and Cipro in the past (along with azithro now M,W,F).

I'm showing resistance to all of these now. I was Rx'd them all for treatment of pseudo.</end quote></div>

Let me suggest you read <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.healthgazelle.org/magnesiumandazythromycin.shtml">THIS</a> and <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.healthgazelle.org/quinineandpseudomonas.shtml">THIS</a>. Anyone who has pseudomonas, but especially abx resistent PA, should check into a) supplementing with magnesium and b) getting their acidity under control.

Good luck with this.
