Oral Antibiotics

Hey, everyone.

I know, when it rains it pours questions from me... LOL!

Just curious, what oral abx have you been on and for what? Are you resistant to oral abx and they still put you on them or do they go right to IV?

I'm just curious. Since I'd never heard of Levaquin until I was Rx'd it yesterday, I wonder how many other oral meds are available for treatment of CF and wonder what you've been on. Thanks.

Oh, and I've been on Ceclor, Augmentin, and Cipro in the past (along with azithro now M,W,F).

I'm showing resistance to all of these now. I was Rx'd them all for treatment of pseudo.

Oh, I also wanted to add that I show resistance to everything mentioned above, so usually when I'm sick we don't even bring up oral abx. Its always hospital or nothing (of course always hospital if its an exacerbation).

Now that I've been Rx'd levaquin, I'm wondering what other "new" oral abx. are out there I could try instead of immediate admittance to hospital in the future.

I have been on Augmentin, Cipro, Levaquin, Bactrim, Zithromax (all for some sort of infection in the lungs), Flagyl (for C-Diff in the colon) and probably a few more but I can't remember. I didn't really get resistant to any of these, they just started working really slow so my doc thought that IV's would be better and they were.

The only one that I have been on lately is Bactrim and that is because it is part of my medication routine since the Tx. I take it every M,W,F.
