My grandfather was in TERRIBLE shape when he died last year - he really didn't take care of himself at all, smoked, drank, the whole bit. He actually died from a massive heart attack, but he was nearly 80 when he died. Anyway, he was able to donate tissue (skin and whatever else is encompassed in "tissue") and then my grandma donated his body to medical science.
