Organizing medical records

I took M to a new GI yesterday (our CF GI is retiring and not taking new patients so we get to see a general Ped GI). I took Tom's summary sheet with us. The nurse was completely overwhelmed only because she could fully see what she was looking at, and she's not accustomed to CFers in their clinic. The GI, however, was thrilled. Her only request that our summary was missing is she would like the actual surgical summaries on all M's bowel surgeries. DH is getting all M's medical records scanned into the computer and I'll be able to simply fax or email the specific records the GI wants to her directly.

I've got a 10" accordion file with my records that I schlep around. I've been toying with the idea of scanning them in and putting them all on a thumb drive saving many pounds of paper hauling to doc's offices. If I had a PDA that would be even handier as we could just look at them in the office instead of needing a computer. Mine are all in chronological order. I've got some tabs on some critical papers so I can find them easily.
