Osteo and Pamidronate

Has anyone had Pamidorante for their osteo?

Just wondering how long the bone pain is suppose to last?

I had my dose yesterday around 1pm and was told I could experiance fevers and some aching, so my understanding of some aching was to be mild. (nothing is ever mild)

(Feels like I have been hit by a freight train with 20 carriages!)

I went to get out of bed this morning and could barely stand up, went to the loo and had to get back to bed before I passed out from the pain.....

I had no choice but to get up as I had a private lesson at 11am, so forced myself outta bed, and took panadol (drs answer to everything, which is like having a drink of water!)

I've had 6 already as well as a codeine tablet and I am still in excruciating pain....

for anyone that has had Pamidronate for their osteo how long did your bone pain last?

It's suppose to strengthen the bones.

I still can't believe the amount of pain it is causing and they didn't give me any indication as to how long I should experience this bone pain I was under the impression, some aches, and pains similar to flu pains.....
and to top it off I have to have the same infusion every 3 months ARGGG!!

I can't raise my arms without it feeling as though someone has a knife twisting in my shoulders

walking feels like I have spears instead of hip joints

Pity part is still open for anyone who wishes to come! LOL

Don't forget the plate lol

I have not taken Pamidronate but I took Actonel. I had the same pain you are describing. Actonel was once a week. My pain pretty much lasted from one pill to the next. I couldnt stand up straight, hardly walk or breathe, do my treatments, etc. I was taking Darvocet for pain. I couldnt handle the pain, plus my CF was suffering because I couldnt take my treatments properly, so I quit. They put me on Forteo shots. Which isnt that bad. It is also used to build bones back. It is a two year treatment plan. So far it has almost fixed my Osteo and its been just a year. I have had some bad pain with Forteo, but not all the time like with Actonel. The great thing is after you do the shot you can lay back down. So I take it at night and sleep through any pain and I'm fine when I wake up the next morning. With Actonel, you had to sit up and deal with it. I hope you get feeling better.
