OT but need opinions

Since Feb. I have had this annoying pain that kinda goes around my right shoulder blade. At first I thought I had thrown my back out, it really felt like that's what it was! The chiropractor wasn't any help, so I went to the doctor (but wasn't able to get in to see my regular GP). He was no help. He said it was a muscular strain and that it would go away on it own. Well, it didn't, so I saw MY doc who refered me for physical therapy. She thought it was muscular too, but said that sometime these things just won't loosen up on their own. The physical therapist thinks I am have compression on the nerves that run between C 5 and 6 in my neck. That actually makes a lot of sense to me, it fits with my symptoms. But in order to make it feel better I have to work out so hard that I can hardly move the next two days. Needless to say this is kinda putting my life on hold. I can't cook, clean, Brian had to help me get dressed this morning!

So my question is, do you think I should just stick it out with the physical therapy, or go back to the doc and see if there is another option? I should mention that I have NOT had an MRI so I do not know exactly what is causing the compression. It could be a spur, bulged disc, or the vertebrea smashing together.

that sounds uncomfortable. Maybe you nshould go for that MRI to be sure it isnt something other than what you think it is. At least that way you can treat it correctly. I hope you can get to the bottom of it soon....

If it's causing you so much pain that you can't do activities you normally CAN do (like cooking, cleaning, getting dressed), then I say definitely get more aggressive with your docs about diagnosing and treating whatever it is that's causing you this much pain. It's obviously not going away on it's own and it doesn't sound like your docs are taking this issue as seriously as they should be. You should NOT have to have Brian help you get dressed - I'm sorry, that's just too much pain to have a "wait it out" approach. Please demand an MRI at the very least - and do let us know what you find out (or PM me if you want - I really want to know how this turns out). Good luck, Jessi. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.

Just a thought - is it at all possible that this might be a lung issue??
