I originally posted a blurb in beginning of april on a blog about saving money/getting out of debt but this more recent blog of mine is a bit more informative.

It's a website that basically is like stock broker for groceries, she tracks the sales at the major stores, all the national coupons plus major free printable ones from online (shows you where to get them), and lines them all up to know when best deal is.

IE say there is a $1 off coupon this week you might run out and use that on $4 laundry soap but in 2 weeks it will go on sale to $3 and in 6 weeks (coupons still good) it will go on sale for $2. The jest of the list is to allow you to wait until the best time to use it so that things are their 'rockbottom price' the lowest that they will go, ever. You then stock up.

To manipulate your grocery bill to pay as little as possible you no longer shop for what you need and make a list. Now, I go through the 'list' see what items are on rock bottom prices that our family can use, print off a list of those items, grab the appropriate coupons from a file that I have previously clipped and sorted from my sunday paper. So then I have my list of what to get, how many to get, total price I should pay before I ever go shopping. The only items I dont buy this way are perishables such as eggs, milk, and produce. If I see other sales in store that look good but arent on my list I know I didnt add them because they will be better next week, next month etc. Of course list also shows all sale items so if you arent willing to wait or need something you can do it at that time too.

if you have any questions please feel free to PM/email me, I have it down to an art form now <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> if you do try it please enter my email address so I can get referral credit!

ps doing this has allowed me to save enough money that we bought a 1/2 hog which saves unbelievably on price/lb pork for much better quality, we have done same thing with 1/4 cow, and I am now saving a bit to do some blueberry picking and freezing en masse this summer which will save us personally a TON as we love bluberries, we also have started buying eggs from a local farmer for $1/dozen, and chickens from the local omish. All of these give me better QUALITY food while also saving cash.

pps for those unbelievers or on a tight budget, I started by paying for my newspaper subscription and my grocery game membership out of my food budget and still come out way ahead, that way it doesnt seem like you are shelling out money in other areas of your budget to save for foood and then saying LOOK I saved money in this area, LOL

This \I find fascinating, as I have been in the grocery retail business for nearly 20 years, and while we have coupons in the UK, it is nowhere near as big as in the USA.
Who ultimately pays for the discounted goods? what if everybody was to do this to a degree, wouldn't the profitmargins shrink and the retailers would stop using coupons?

Given the millions of people that shop in the US versus the number that actually use coupons....its not going to cut into their profit margin enough to stop it.

Its an way to get the people to use their products. An incentive of sorts.
