Our First Vest

DS thought it was pretty fun at first, but then didn't like the fact that he couldn't hear the tv. We usually would put spongebob on for him to watch or a dvd. We did his treatments in our bedroom tv, vest, nebulizer got pretty loud. And unlike with CPT, he very very rarely falls asleep during vest treatments.

John's too young now, but a couple of months ago DH bought an xbox 360 and moved the vest to our rec room and now DS asks us constantly if it's "vesty time" gets mad when it's not.

Hi! Zoe has the Incourage vest also. She started about the same time as your John is. We definately have had our battles. We also watch videos/dvds while doing nebs and vest. Sometimes we read books. We found that giving her something like a little bowl of chocolate chips to nibble on during vest was a great bribing tool, plus we got those extra calories in her!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> On the rare times when I knew she was going to give me a huge fight, we would get her mind off of it, do something fun for a while, then try it again. She never misses a treatment, we are pretty much a slave to whatever works to get her to do it, at least at that young age. Zoe does 30 minutes twice a day, we use the quick start because it uses all the ramping. Pressure at 70%.

I am an adult that uses a vest and yeah it is even hard for me. But I just watch TV and do my nebs. When I was younger I did not do the vest , my parents clapped with their hands on me but I do remember them always making it a fun time and not a chore. So maybe you can make it fun by being with your child reading, playing a game, watch fun DVD's. There is probably no great way to get such a young child to do the vest but just try to make it a fun and happy time! GOOD luck!
