Thank you for posting. My son is suppose to have an allergy to wheat also. I never heard of the antiinflammatory diet till now. My son has had a cough for a few years now(dry) so I wonder if it would help. So all your doing is cutting out sugar and some dairy?

Hi Sarah

Here is an article that I wrote for this site seven years ago on nutrition. It needs to be updated but I am sure you will definitely agree to what is written. Just posting in case others are interested.

As a transplant patient, I think it is just as important to watch what we eat. All my organs are very healthy.

We never know what germs will be around us and a good strong immune system will help keep the germs away or perhaps will help in our defense against them.

Many cf doctors are catching on to the idea of a good healthy diet. I know one who always encouraged me to eat healthy. He was always happy to hear how I love healthy foods at a very young age.

Congratulations and keep up the great work.

Laurie,
the thread Mandy has a link to above is great and it's what got me to make the change. In addition to cutting out wheat sugar and dairy I've been giving her probiotics daily and added fish oil. We are eating a lot more nuts, and my kids have always liked soy milk so they drink that now instead of cow milk. I've been buying spelt bread, which is a type of wheat that is more easily digested. Some people with wheat allergies can't tolerate it but it seems to work for Lili. I am going to get her allergy tested and of turns out she shouldn't have that I guess it is back to rice bread, which I'm not too fond of.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement! This diet is something I feel strongly about, there is so much with CF that is out of my control, food and supplements is something we can all to do take control of our health.
