When we had massive fires in California I started paying attention to air quality. I coughed blood the day I had some outside exposure to numbers over 100 (it was off the charts in some areas). I also inhaled some campsite smoke I most definitely tried my best not to inhale- again blood and more mucous, the same for my brother with CF. I use a N95 mask with "vent" for when it's really hot. It is harder on you to wear, so read up. I also cough lots the day after I have little sleep.
My doctors philosophy is it's a marathon not a sprint. Me? I like to figure out the whys!
