i hear ya. ive been trying to sort out a separate 'issue' for a while with my clinic and im just not getting anywhere. really puts you off going to appointments when they just make you angry. why do staff find it such a huge effort to listen to patients? heh, probably because listening requires one to work harder.

no halters. ive brought up the subject before as i sometimes get heart flutters but they dont think further tests are necessary.

the sleep technicians actually got angry with me because i couldnt fall asleep haha. are they insane? maybe they were used to overweight people who fell asleep at the drop of a hat.

u don't have to be hospitalized to get a script for oxygen. Before Medicare will pay for it at night you do usually need a sleeep study showing you go under 88 during sleep. To get a script during the day you need ABG under 88 after a 6 minute walk. Here are the thoraci society guidelines for O2 with COPD. I would assume that it is the same for CF.

Push for a sleep study. Even the home test can qualify you.
From what y ou say it sounke you'd have no problem getting below 88% with activity so in that case the ABG test after walking is quicker and easier to get.

YOu do need a test with numbers before insurance will cover.
Once you are coveremake sure you choose and EMAN the best portable unit for you (they will try to give you some cheap system instead). See <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.portableoxygen.org">http://www.portableoxygen.org</a> for the choices.

iof they say that you only are under 88% "soimetimes" then tell them you also want a script for a Nonin oxuimeter so you can monitor when you should use the O2.

I hope you can get some oxygen sounds like it would really help you. I did the overnight oximeter test once when I was well and it was fine, I normally sat around 92-94, but since this last hospital stay I've been on oxygen, they just set me up at home, I think once you get it the oxygen people are really easy to work with. As for a Nonin Oximeter, insurances don't cover them and the health people jack there prices way up anyways, the internet is the best way to obtain one, you could even get one now and do your own test for the dr.!!!!!!! Good Luck!

i live in aus so my insurance doesnt pay for things like that anyway. i have actually been looking on the net for the oximeters. ive seen the nonin ones that are a tiny all in one unit. im guessing they are good? it would be handy to have. just got to save up for one.

anyways, ive decided its time to get admitted. my body is just shot to pieces now so i dont feel like im capable of doing ivs at home this time. sooo im going to try and get it all sorted out while they have me tied down rofl. now i just have to wait for a bed. i better get one today, i dont know how much longer i can go on at home.

Good luck on your cleanout. Hope it leaves you feeling much better and you get all of these issues worked out.

About the Nonin oximeter. If you have to pay out of pocket look for the little ones that they make for pilots they are exactly the same as the medical ones but cheaper. I know I posted some info about ordering online on this before but can't find it now so search the site for oximeter and maybe you can find it
