oxygen whilst on vacation

Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can give me some information about getting oxygen whilst on vacation.

We are thinking of going to florida from England & I now have oxygen overnight, (didn't have oxygen last time I came to America), obviously I can't bring my own concentrator accross the pond with me.

Could you advise me as to what kinds of costs there would be for a 2 week stay in August and how you go about organising oxygen, would it be delivered to the villa or would we have to collect it.

Thanks for any help.

The costs vary from state to state. The only way to find out the cost and the type of documentation they want from an international traveler would be to contact an oxygen supplier. One big one in the US is Apria (here is their site http://www.apria.com/home/ ).

You might ask your present supplier about traveling overseas. Some are very helpful (at least some here in the US are helpful about contacting others in England I know).

Also, have you asked your doc about needing oxygen when you fly?
I know lots of people who use it only at night on the ground need it the whole time they are up in the air. If you need it to fly, you need to call your air carrier and find out how to arrange that through them.

Good luck. And have fun!

You may just be able to take your concentrator. I know that my Praxair company has a big case for traveling to put it in. Call the airlines and talk to them about it. Oxygen has now been approved on some airlines to take on planes.

The only oxygen concentrator that is approved for use on airplanes is the AirSep LifeStyle ( http://www.senate.gov/~crapo/m...e_full.cfm?id=231532&& - shows that 2 were originally discussed but only the one was approved to date) and then you have to have enough batteries with you so you can use it without plugging it in (many many for England/Floriday flight) and not all airlines have OK'd it (even tho' they could).

As for bringing your concentrator with you to use at night in the hotel. On an American airline carrier you could do that without it counting against your allowed weight/number of suitcases etc because it is medical equipment. Of course, there is the issue of different electricity requirements I beleive. I don't know how much it would cost to rent one for 2 weeks here - but it wouldn't be much I'd believe.
