Liza-I'm still stuck on the RSV thing. I'm back to thinking I'll have them ordered...Mainly because she's going to go through this Winter being so young.
Ashmomo-Thanks for the well wishes and I'll make sure to keep everyone updated. We just upped her dose of enzymes to 3 today <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">
Rainsmom-Thanks so much for the tip, I'm definitely going to try it out!

Max got the synagis shot his first 2 winters (he had been born in September, so was such a little guy his first winter). Our clinic highly recommended it. Although I am not a huge fan of injecting my children w/ anything foreign, I was grateful that Max stayed pretty healthy during the winters (a friend of mine had a non-cf child hospitalized for RSV, so I guess it can get pretty nasty - especially for our babies who are more vulnerable).

I am sorry that Paige is still culturing staff - but with your proactive attitude, hopefully you'll get a clear culture next time!

It sounds like you and your team are coming to a good place together in Paige's care. As for the synagis, if your insurance will cover it, its a great protection -- even kids without CF can have permanent lung damage from having RSV. But keep in mind that synagis costs almost $2000 a dose -- and you need the shot once a month through all of the RSV season. Our insurance covered it all, because its cheaper than the reprecussions of a CF kiddo getting RSV. Hopefully yours will too.

We did have issues getting insurance to cover the synagis shots at first. But then a relative whose an attorney wrote a letter indicating the costs were minimal considering how much a couple weeks in the hospital and lung damage would be. He was approved within minutes. Once a month, we'd take ds to the clinic, they'd way him, prepare the vaccine and adminster it -- this was Nov-April and we only did it the first year.

A coworker's grandchild got RSV -- wasn't in daycare yet, was only a month or so old and ended up in the hospital. Had issues with wheezing/asthma-like symptoms for a long time.
