pain during cpt

I would definitely get an xray to see if there is anything OBVIOUS, but sometimes (as was with me for months) nothing showed to justify the extreme pain I had.

BUT trust me it was extreme requiring percocet etc. Manual clapping definitely aggrivated it, but it was there no matter what for the most part even with pain meds.

There is the chance he is hoping to shorten his treatments, but odds are good that he is hurting.

I wish there was an easy answer!

When I was sick and coughing alot my lungs hurt, the whole lung. The vest and manual made it worse. It was bearable though because I knew I needed the CPT. But I ached so much just from coughing so much. It finally went away when I started to recover a little and cough less. I ached without CPT too though and everytime I coughed I cringed. It sucked.

He may just be trying to get out of CPT so like Tara said, tell him you are going to take him to the DRs/ER to see what s wrong and if he is against it, then he probably wants out of CPT.

Good luck and keep us posted!!!

Tonya, I hate when we parents have to try and decide if our kids are pulling on over on us, or if they really hurt. If he's being active, and playing like normal without complaining of pain, I'd lean more toward it being a ploy or an exaggeration to shorten the CPT time.

We used to have a trampoline, and Jordan would always cough up a bunch of junk after jumping on that thing for a while. Even if you got one of those small exercise kind for in the house, it might help. He might find it fun, and not think of it as therapy. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> I also like the idea of setting the vest on the lowest settings, and working up to his normal. Maybe a compromise of sorts, or a reward system would help? I don't evny your situation at all.
