Thankyou all so much for your replies. Everyone is right about homeschooling- I am ignorant of it.
I need to learn more about it. I did a little research about it-it does seem more organized and structured than it did in my day. (hah-"my day") My hubby even talked to a homeschool dad about it and he said they have satelite programs for older children where you have to log in on a certain set time every day and through video you learn and participate in class too. I was reading about one company that offers teachers to even come to your home for certain programs-this type of school is similar to kids that are in movies or tv and have on set tutors. And as everyone said, there are great programs in the arts-museums, travel, ect...
I was with my SIL last night-one thing my in laws just dont get is how serious cf is. We have tried to explain this but they wont hear it, or they don't care-not that they dont care but they dont want to do the research or listen to reality. Everything is happy 'fantasy' land where no one is ever sick bc they arent ever sick! Anyway, my SIL starts talking about how selfish parents are that home school their kids just so they can travel and pursue their selfish goals, and how being in public school is best for the kid, and how our parents (my inlaws) would flip- if any of their kids or grandkids ever were homeschooled. It was just funny that she was saying this when we are going through this now! We haven't talked about any of this with them! (no way)
It hurts bc I know they wouldnt understand why we are doing it. Theyd criticize us so much. Not that that would stop us, but...(sigh). Family, family.....
I want to put my child first in everything I do...I believe in that SO much, with all my heart and life. But I have to BE HERE, alive, in order to do that.
