Pari Trek S

I'm not a huge fan of 'portable' nebs-notoriously slow, but going overseas I'll need a neb. I ordered a Pari TreK S. I've tried a few other options out there. I guess (other than the eflow which my doc doesn't recommend and I don't care for either), they are all slow.
Anyway, for anyone that has used the Trek, this may sound like a dumb question, but when its charging, can you actually operate it while charging?
Furthermore, while its connected to an adaptor in Italy, can you run it while charging?
I'm pretty sure I had one in the past-and I thought I could run it while charging and it blew on me.
(I've been away so often I can't remember all the details, sorry...you'd think I would have this down by now.)
I remember Amy saying getting a PARI from Europe is another option, but after researching it I have no idea how to get one here.

the only thing i would be aware of is that there are certain meds such as pulmozyme that cannot be used with the pari trek s. might want to check into it before spending any money on a new machine!

I contacted Pari a long time ago thinking the trek would be great for travel, but they indicated it shouldn't be used for Tobi.

You could check Pari.com and see about the European one or check out Amy's blog as she also talks about bringing along her vest and using it.

The one thing I do not like about this machine is that it gets hot and shuts off easily. This especially happens with thicker inhaled medications like Pulmicort and Mucomyst.

hmm I have never had mine shut off, even when its so hot to the touch.

I have done TOBI in it before, not for the whole entire month course, but for random doses of it... I also do pulmozyme in it (obviously since its portable, I use when running behind or at someone elses house to get my treatments done and finished so its not an everyday occurance that I use it).

I am on my second one though (3 year warranty and we all know how well Pari products last lol). The first one I would charge and use all the time, at the same time... altough I cant say for sure how much it was being charged, I normally would leave it charging like while showering and getting read or something after doing my treatment. This one I am on know, I went to use the battery pack and something is wrong with it, so I need to send it back (le sigh) b/c it acts like there isnt a connection or something so the trek doesnt even turn on.

I dont think the battery pack lasts long though, I think maybe 2-30 minute sessions (?) I actually didnt use that too much, mostly the car adaptor and the fact I had a carrying case and stuff for it to travel with.

PS: why doesnt your doctor recommend the eflow? Because you cant do all the medicines in it? Cleaning procedures? I used to hate the eflow (but I did all my meds in it after asking my doctor and her saying I could), but I obviously have to use it for Cayston (well the Altera) and so far I like it... so it has changed my opinion of the device for now.

i use the altera for my cayston, but of course its not recommended to use it for anything else.
i'm not on tobi right now.
the eflow has been quite hotly debated i know, but the fact is that some users have actually had worsening of symptoms from it-can i give you a study, no, but this is from word of mouth from friends, relatives, etc. i have no doubt how convenient it is, and i'd love to try it. but for now my docs not on board and for now, i'm ok with that. its been a source of frustration in the past though!
i have an omrom micro air-i can do my pulmozyme in that. its just soooo slow. i've used the pari trek before and its much faster than the omron. my goal is to do albuterol and hypertonic in the pari trek, pulmozyme in the omron and my others are just puffers.
as for the trek battery pack-yes you are right! i'm decided to order an extra battery pack and just keep charging them.
i wish there was an easy answer here!-bottom line, vacation is great, but there is no vacation from cf...
