Passive Smoking

I HAD the same problems with various realtives in the past. I explained that I just could no longer be around any smoke, put my foot down, and set the rules I needed to preserve my health. If they couldn't understand or support my decision then I couldn't see them. Everyone I know is very supportive of me so, thank god, it was never a problem after that. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I even tole painted and posted a cute little 'no smoking' sign on my front porch as a reminder.

If they really think the world of your daughters, then they will understand why you make the choice to not visit their home. Invite them to your house with the stipulation that they must smoke outside, far from the house.

I know this may seem selfish to set rules but our health is more important then their need to smoke.

I agree- my mom smokes outside 24/7 at her <i>own </i>house because 1) she knows that it is best for me and best for her grandchildren and 2) she realized just how bad a cig stunk up house smells to other people- her included now <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .

If she and I go somewhere for the day in the same vehicle, she smokes outside the store while I check out at the register, go get the car, etc. And all this from a woman who smoked in the house until I was 16 years old! Change is possible- the right motivation is key <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> . Good luck!
