'Peeley' Skin

Hi

BEfore I was dx I always had peeley skin and just htought it was dry skin. Then at dx my nurse told me it was due to salt irritating my skin. It is my fingers that always peel.

Anyway does everyone else get this and do you notice a relation to the amount of salt you are eating or the weather?

I notice it mostly in winter and when I was pg I ate ALOT salt on everything and no peeley fingers but now I dont eat alot salt and I have it again.

I have never found need to increase my salt intake (my sweat tests are borderline) but perhaps I should? Perhaps it affects more than just my skin?

do you mean the skin around your nails or the skin on your fingertips? I was told my peely skin around my nails was related to vitamin absorption - mine comes and goes so I always figured that it was nutrition based. huh. My son gets this occasionally as well, and he doesn't have Cf, so I dunno.

When the skin at the bottom of my nails starts to peel for my personal body it indicates that my lungs aren't doing so well, lately the pads of my fingers have been peeling and my dr. said that when people are really sick or on a lot of antibiotics it can cause that, this has only happened to me twice (the peeling of my finger tips) and both times I was pretty sick. I've never heard it related to my salt intake.

My skin peels when I am sick and then my feet peel every spring or fall. I heard it was a salt thing also/hydration thing also. I also have extremely wrinkly hands and feet so I always just thought I was wierd anyway!

It is the skin on the pads of my fingers, generally just my thumb and index finger sometimes including around the nail. A few times if I sweat heard during a work out I will get little blisters on my chest (Iam talking miniscule) that sloth off with a shower and I wondered if that was from salt as well??)

I am pancreatic sufficient and have not had problems with vitamin levels so I wouldnt think it was that but you never know.
