People need to relax

You all realize that we're going to get nowhere with all of this. I'm sitting here reading 3 pages - count 3 pages of people going back and forth either insulting each other, or telling each other what is appropriate humour and what isn't. If you don't like the humour and think that it wasn't appropriate - ignore it, move on. Gawd guys - we're not in high school anymore!

Holy crap...I'm gone for a short while, and I come back to this crap!? What is wrong with everybody!? Gimme a freggin' break, people, this is so incredibly stupid! This is nothing but a thread with which to bash people and mock them, which I'm sure isn't what Ender intended! All of you saying that SeanDavis knows how to ruin a thread, look in the mirror!

And for those of you who want Sean to be more conservative in his posts...get real. This is the internet. People will say and do whatever they feel, and reguardless of whether he posts on your thread or not, you posted the thread on a PUBLIC FORUM! People have the right to say whatever they want, its not solely YOUR thread! You don't have legal rights to it, for crying out loud! Have any of you ever looked at other forums before? There are people a lot worse than SeanDavis out there, so quit complaining. I for one think we need some humor in here. I remember a while back that everyone was b*tching because people were too negative. Now that there's humor on the site, everyone's saying we're not serious enough. Make up your minds!!

And Julie, as for your comment about Sean needing to grow up, and that he's done nothing but create turmoil since joining...wow. Just wow. Totally childish and uncalled for. A bit hypocritical, I think...

Okay, I'm done ranting. Now someone please lock this damn thing, because I doubt this is going to stop on its own.

Karen, that was SO funny.
I wouldn't be able to kill my kids if they did that b/c I'd be in a psych ward.

I am with Lilith on this one. Some SD jokes are not going to hurt anyone. And Julie, please do not get so stressed. You are pregnant with trips afterall and have many hormones about.

YES! I can't believe how little it takes for some to go off the deep end. I don't care how long a person has been at this site, or how often they post - no one has a right to say how this forum should be run and who can or shouldn't post (except you, Bill, of course <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I guess if I come across things that anger me, I turn off the computer and go eat ice cream - it's much more fun than being angry at people I don't even know.

BTW - Sean, I thought your boyfriend comment was VERY inappropiate, but at the same time, I couldn't stop laughing. I think you just don't get enough attention at home <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I won't say I'm your biggest fan, but you still have a right to be here with us other basket cases.

I am not saying that nobody on this website shoudn't be here. Actually, if I recall, NOBODY has said that out of their own mouths. Rather, they (myself included) are being accused of saying it. Everybody has a right to be here, and everyone has a right to express their opinion, whether we agree or not. But there is a place and time for it. YOu don't see me going on every thread and chasing sean aroudn when I think his comments are inappropriate... that would be inappropriate of me. Rather, it was addressed on one thread in particular and then readdressed on this thread that Ender started.

The request is simple and really never needed to get this far drawn out. I'll repeat it again.

And mostly, yes, it is directed towards Sean since he's the one who makes these funny, off the wall posts the most. And it's not the content of the posts I have a problem with... for the last time people. It's the time/place of some (NOT ALL) of them.

So, here it is again...

PLEASE, CONSIDER THE CONTENT OF THE TOPIC AT HAND BEFORE YOU POST SOME OFF THE WALL JOKE OR COMMENT. It is not always appropriate, and we should all have some respect for the person who started the thread. If they are here for some serious help, let's not make light of their situation.concern, that isnt' the point of this website.

That is all I am requesting. Make your jokes and silly off the wall comments, but don't do it in every single thread, and please don't do it when someone says, "im signing on as anon. because I'm embarassed to ask this..." or something of that nature.

Julie I think what some of us have a problem with is you trying to say when it is the right time or place for a joke. I get your drift, really I do, but it's not up to you to say what is funny in what situation. I think that may be the reason for the hostility. Or at least some of it.

Myself. I just don't take it all that seriously. If a thread bugs me, I generally move on. Not aways, as in this case, I am posting my thoughts. But I usually move on. I let the moderators do their job. I don't try to police the site since that is the moderator's job.

I think a good policy would be: Before each of us respond, EVERY time, we send a copy of our response to the Monty Python Peoples Judicious Front Joke Review committee. Then if they email us back that it is ok, and indeed funny (usually 48-72 business hours) then we go forth with our post. If Monty Python says it's even 1/10 as funny as Incontinentia Buttocks, then it's a go!

SeanDaivs,

I don't really think its an issue of disliking you or not. I don't dislike you, but I do sometimes find your comments a bit out of place. Its sometimes like you come into a hospital room where someone is worried about themselves and you start cracking sarcastic comments. Its not helpful. I mean on a lot of topics its ok, but its the serious ones you should probably leave alone.

I find your jokes and that funny and it makes me smile, except when I read about someone who's having a problem and I see your sarcastic comment, it makes me roll my eyes.

Thats my two cents

Odd that you mention that. Granted I was in my early 20's, but still no excuse. I had a real state issues County Morgue green scrub top, and some green scrub pants. I would put these on and tell my other couple CF male friends to come and see what happens. I would have this outfit on, and go down to the geriatric ward of our hospital, and just randomly lean in and look at the person in the room, like i'm checking to see if they are still alive. The guys who enjoyed it with me are all dead now, but we talked about that for a long time. Yeah I know, i'm going to hell, but holy hell it was funny. It only worked if you found one that was aware and noticed you doing it, and you did it about every 30 mins. I wonder if I gave anyone a heart attack...Yes I know, Hitler is keeping my seat warm <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Don't worry, Sean...I'll probably be going to hell, too, but that's fine with me. All the cool people are there, and they've probably got better music <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

Sean that story reminds me of Patch Adams.... He was always making the medical staff and his class mates nuts, but he made so many people crack up laughing as well...

Have you ever seen that movie? So good..minus the GF dying.
