People on Zithromax

I've been on Zithromax 500 mg 3 days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri)... and I've been taking it for... jeez... at least since December 03, maybe since December 02. I can't quite remember (Mom, any ideas??).

I had been previously unaware that Zithromax was bad for the liver, though it doesn't surprise me. I want to know how many others are on Zithromax? How long have you been on it for? How much do you take, which days? And does anyone know exactly what it does to the liver? How much time do you need to be on it for your liver to start suffering the consequences?

Anyone with any ideas/answers/comments, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I take Zithromax once a day. 500 mg. That seems like a lot compared to other people.

I was on it 250 mg a day for a year. I stopped though cuz it didn't do much for me. I was never told about liver problems related to it.

I think December '02 is correct, but I'm not sure either. I can't keep track of all your meds anymore. When they started or how long or doses, blah blah blah !!!
The only thing I have noted on my computer somewhere are all your surgeries and dates because at some point, they may become important!
By the way, I think the Zithromax has made a difference<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I have been on it for three years. 500 mg mon wed and fri....no problems here. They do check blood levels once a year and every time I am in the hospital and I think one thing they check is liver levels and mine have been good so far. I will try and remember to ask my doc about liver and zithro...i see him this month. I didnt know much about zithro and liver...but do know any antibotics we take can be bad for the liver and kidneys. I know it helps me though. I havent had near as many lung infections....its like it keeps the small stuff away because the small stuff always winds up big for me...and my PFTs went up a little bit since taking it. Now they have stayed the same.

I was on Zithromax 500mg 3 times a week (mon, wed, fri) and I did see a reduction in the number of lung infections (mostly pneumonia) I got per year. Unfortunately, I stopped taking it because I was in and out of the restroom all day!! Sorry, had to say it..heh

I've been on Zithromax for years and I have CF-related liver disease. I have no idea which happened first because it was long ago, but it's bizarre to me that my doctor never brought this up. Hmm, something to ask at the next visit.
