95% I can't wear but occasionally I can find a vanilla/musk or I can also wear burberry. I HATE what I call *perfume Whoars* that lather it on, then it doesnt matter what they wear I cant breathe. Interestingly, men's doesnt usually bother me.

I'm sensitive to scents. I don't wear perfume and try to stay away from strong scents. I can feel a tightness when I walk into a candle shop or anything like that.

It seems like a lot of us feel the same way about scents/perfumes!

I was told once by my doctor when I was having an exacerbation to stay away from scented things. So there must be some tie to it affecting our breathing.

I am sensitive to smells as well. Not only from a breathing issues but I get migraines as well, which can be triggered by smell. I have a hard time going down the detergent, scented candle, and cleaner isle. However, I can wear perfume but not any and all kinds. I havent had a problem with Clinique Happy and another called Cool Water. Both are a little expensive, but I dont have a problem with them. Clinique Happy is the one I wear the most. I usually cant smell the Clinique Happy on myself, but other's tell me I smell good, so I know it's there. I think how you put it on has a lot to do with it too. I will spray some in the open air, hold my breathe and walk through it. I will then put a small amount on the inside of my wrist, rub together and dab my wrist behind my ears. So, it isnt as strong. One thing I hate is when someone in the store walks by you and they smell like they have soaked in a bath tub with the cheapest stuff they could find.

I can use a few scented oils/candles in the house, usually something low in scent and you can control the amount that is put out. I can use vanilla, apple cinnamon, white rose...soft scents. I cant use lavender, gardenia, hawaiian flowers, clean linen...you know, stuff like that.

I cannot walk into Bath & Body Works. I have to hold my breath just to walk past it in the mall. A few years ago, I loved going to that store and look around. Now, I can't it gives me headaches and makes me SOB.

I'm extremely sensitive to fragrances and perfumes. Whenever I'm in the hospital I put a big sign on my door that tells nurses that if they're wearing perfume or scented lotion then they can't come in. I hate it when they violate my rule and come in anyway. When I ask if they're wearing perfume they have the audacity to thrust their wrist under my nose and say "well, it's only a little bit..." I tell them that "okay, then I'll just go into a LITTLE BIT of respiratory distress."

Since I've gotten my asthma more under control though, I've found a very few scents that I can handle. One is the "Moonlight Path" bubble bath and shower gel from Bath and Body Works. I can also tolerate (in tiny, infrequent doses) Estee Lauder's "Pleasures" and Clinique "Happy"
