Pfizer to pay record $2.3B penalty over promotions

Just another example of how screwed up the health care system/pharmacutical companies are. We've all know doctors are regualary wined and dined.

To go one step further, and I know some will say advertising is necessary to generate money to reinvest in discovering new drugs, but I'm kind of leaning to the side that they should not allow drug advertisments on tv, like they won't allow cigeratte comercials.

I'm under the baseball belief of, "if u build it, they will come"......if u invent it, they will use it"

i strongly believe that this fine is absolutely outrageous!!!

what ever happened to personal responsibility? i do believe that every drug commercial says at the end to discuss using these medications with your doctor.i never even know what the drug is for anyway after commercials. i know whenever my doctor suggests that i start using a new or different drug i ask numerous questions about the drug. number 1 question is what does this drug do for me.

every time a drug company is fined by the big brother government that is massive amounts of less money put to development of drugs that will not make the company money, such as most cf specific drugs, which are not very profitable.

i guarantee that if the drug companies could find a way to make a profit from drugs developed for cystic fibrosis we would have a drug that essentially cured cf. by cure i mean a drug that masked all the symptoms as long as you continued to take the drug.
however cf is not quite like the inability to get an erection. viagra and cialis are huge money makers for these companies.

i implore everyone to know what they are putting into their bodies, its your responsibility not the drug companies.
